...Alice dreamt about this blood-red ball of fire.
She did not see anything else in her dream, but just a red ball of fire obscuring her vision and casting uncanny shadows in an otherwise ashen pitch darkness.
Then, the ball of fire is considerably larger in size, still a bright scarlet, and crackling while emitting flashy sparks, also giving her the sensation that it was restraining her with no way of escape, even gradually choking her.
She wakes up whimpering after this unusual bad dream.
A couple of days later she dreams again about this solar-like flaming fireball, this time with an eerie & unrelenting wailing reverberating in the background, and accompanied by a hollow breathing as if of an unknown third party assisting to this disturbing nocturnal scene.
Again, she wakes up breathless, her heart going pitter-patter, and breaking in a sweat.
Eventually, this fiendish red ball of fire marked her life, as the dream became recurrent, and like a persistent phantasmal presence, her dreams pervaded her daily existence.
Then one night, in her dream, the ball of fire is swelling assiduously, and then in the manner of a big bang, it suddenly bursts with an ear-splitting blast, unleashing multitudinous smaller fireballs clouding her vision even more.
Alice then gropes her way along the familiar path to the bathroom, and as soon as she is in there, she splashes her face with cool and refreshing tap water, while still gasping for air after her sleep terrors.
She then raises her head, and lets out a prolonged shrill cry of absolute terror, as her eye pupils progressively transmute into the nightmarish red-hot balls of fire of her dreams, shining menacingly at her through the semi-darkness.
Then overwhelmed by a sudden drop in body temperature, leaving her feeling particularly cold and jittery, she closes her eyes to this unwanted and seemingly unearthly invasion only to then open them again two nanoseconds later, upset, entrapped, and not knowing which reality to choose, as she is perpetually surrounded and controlled by an army of red-crimson, fiery atoms muddying the view of her cosmos as she knew it.
